SUSTA - Natural Sweetener
A Healthy Alternative to Table Sugar and Artificial Sweeteners
In my younger years, I was an artificial sweetener fiend. I consumed large amounts of the blue and yellow stuff. After I had children and started to really learn about what I was putting into my body, I cut that stuff out.
When I bake, I use good old sugar. I've been able to kick the sugar habit in my coffee. In the summer I do use a little agave nectar in my iced tea but my family only uses sugar when baking or cooking.
I was recently asked to give SUSTA a try. I received a complimentary box of packets and tried it in my coffee. Since I am so use to drinking unsweetened coffee, I wasn't sure how I felt about it. Later in the day I added it to my iced green tea and really enjoyed it To me, there is a fruity/citrus after taste that really complimented my tea.
Well this morning, my dear little three year old poured an entire gallon of milk down the sink in the bathroom. I was not looking forward to drinking my coffee black. Then it dawned on me - SUSTA! I like sweetened espresso so I added a packet to my coffee and really enjoyed my cup of coffee. I added a little lemon rind to it to give it that "espresso" effect.
The great thing about SUSTA is that it is a natural sweetener with a low glycemic index. This is perfect for anyone who is watching their sugar for health or medical reasons. It also has the added benefit of containing probiotics and fiber to help support the digestive system. SUSTA has 23 essential vitamins and minerals. It is vegan, gluten-free, cholesterol-free, does not contain soy, wheat, alcohol, yeast, egg, dairy or lactose.
With only 5 calories per packet, it works perfectly into any daily meal plan. There are a lot of products on the shelves right now and once I gave up sugar, I stopped bying them. I am grateful that I had the opportunity to give SUSTA a try and when our supply is gone, I will certainly purchase a box to have on hand.
SUSTA can be found in Shop Rite, Pathmark and A&P Fresh in our area. You can also purchase it directly from their website, www.sustastore.com. Their website give more nutritional information and details about the product in addition to recipes.
If you are looking for an all natural sugar substitute, pick up a box of SUSTA.
